How to buy a good pair of hunting boots
61If you ask any hunter what the most important piece of equipment to have is, they will tell you good boots. Nothing ruins a hunting trip like wet, cold feet. It also is a safety issue, because if you are alone and can't walk out, you have trouble.
Here in Michigan, a lot of hunters like the rubber pull on style known as "swampers". They are a high boot, so they offer shin protection as well as foot protection. I would recommend not going with the cheapest brand, because those tend not to be the warmest, and they wear out quickly. Once they start leaking, then they are worthless because there isn't a real good way to plug a crack or a hole.
I would also recommend going with the kind that have the "thinsulate" lining sewn in them. The rating is by the gram, as in how many grams are in each boot. Find a pair that fits a little larger then your normal shoe size, because you will be wearing 2 pairs of socks and you don't want to have them fit too tight.
Any good sporting and outdoors equipment store, such as Bass Pro Shops should have a nice selection to choose from. I prefer to buy them in a store, as opposed to online, so you can find a pair thats right for you.
I paid 60 dollars for the pair that I have, and they are best boots I have ever owned. I used to suffer with cold feet, but I don't anymore.
