Should guns be restricted to military, police and security guards?
61I do not think that gun possesion should be restricted to the police, military and security guards, because that would remove one of the check and balances from our system of government. A great many people have forgotten that the right to keep and bear arms was written into the constitution for that purpose. If all weapons were banned from private, lawful ownership then we would have in this country a large imbalance of power.
Guns would still find their way into the hands of those people who would misuse them. I think that it would make violent crime a lot more prevelent then it is today. I have a right to protect my family, home, and property from someone who has the intention of harming them. I don't believe that a person should take the law into their own hands, but if there is no other choice, then a person should have the means to protect themselves and their families.

Stats like the above comment are pretty much worthless. Its not the people who follow the law that are the problem. Its the idiots who leave firearms around that are loaded, who carry without the proper training and permit, and who don't observe basic procedures for safety that are the danger and the problem. With the state of society today, I resent any attempt to remove from me the means to protect myself, my family, and my property. Who else is going to do it, the police? They are losing their jobs because short sighted politicians have slashed the budgets for public safety!

If,I had a better way to defend myself that wasn't deadly I would.Until then guns are unfortuneately necessary to protect ourselves.
With that power we must accept responsability and some restrictions.On the other hand those who would take away our right to self defense would make so many gun restrictions in such a way that we would effectively be disarmed.

guns should be banned for unauthorized citizens about 65% of people dying is because of a gun!
